A favourite substantial breakfast snack. It is also a filling meal any time of the day.
    Preparation Method
  1. Clean and sieve the pressed rice.
  2. Wash and soak them in water for 2-3 minutes. Drain and put in a colander for 15 minutes.
  3. On a low flame, heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Add the mustard seeds. As they crackle, add asafoetida and turmeric powder. Add green chillies. Sauté.
  4. Immediately add the pressed rice, sugar, salt and lemon juice.
  5. Gently mix well. Garnish and serve hot.
    Additional Note
  • 1/2 cup boiled peas can be added. Proportionally add the spices.

~ INGREDIENTS ~
  1. 2 cups pressed rice (thick pauva)
  2. pinch of turmeric powder
  3. pinch of asafoetida
  4. pinch of mustard seeds
  5. 3 green chillies (cut into 1/2" pieces)
  6. 1/4 cup oil
  7. 1 lemon (juice)
  8. sugar to taste
  9. salt to taste
  10. coriander leaves (to garnish)
