Chawli Ki Sabzi
A simple vegetable that tastes good with hot rotis.
    Preparation Method
  1. Thoroughly wash the beans. Trim their ends. Bunch them together. Finely cut them to the same size.
  2. On a low flame, heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida and beans. Sauté for a minute. Add water. Cover with a lid. Keep lid slightly open. Pour water over it for vaporization.
  3. Cook till the beans are nearly tender.
  4. Add spices and mix well. Cook further for 2-3 minutes. Remove from fire, garnish and serve hot.
    Additional Note
  • If soda-bicarbonate is used, do not cover with a lid.

  1. 250 grams long string beans (chauli)
  2. 1 1/4 teaspoons dhana-jeera powder
  3. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  4. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  5. pinch of asafoetida
  6. pinch of soda-bicarbonate (optional)
  7. 1/2 cup water (approx.)
  8. 3 tablespoons oil
  9. salt to taste
  10. coriander leaves (finely cut, to garnish)
