- On a low flame, melt ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds. As they crackle, add rest of the ingredients and water.,
- On a low flame, cover and cook for 10 minutes. Stir well.
- Cover and cook again till the water is absorbed.
- Garnish. Serve hot with ghee, fresh curds, and methi ka masala.
- Khichu can be prepared ahead. Steam before serving.
For kanki ka khichu pressure cook all the ingredients up to 3 whistles.
