The traditional Indian healthy breakfast of broken wheat.
- In a pan, heat ghee for tempering. Add the black gram and as it turns golden, pop the mustard seeds. Reduce the flame and then add asafoetida, curry leaves and then add green chillies. Then add broken wheat and sauté for a few minutes.
- Along side boil 2 cups water. When it boils, pour the water into the broken wheat swiftly, stirring all the while. Add salt and continue to stir until all the water evaporates and upma begins to leave the side of the pan.
- Switch off the flame and keep it for stand for 5-7 minutes. Add lemon juice and coriander leaves and then serve hot.
