Amrud Ki Sabzi
Ripe guavas make an unusual spiced vegetable.
    Preparation Method
  1. Cut guavas into small cubes (close to serving time).
  2. On a low flame, heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. As they crackle, add asafoetida and water.
  3. Bring it to a boil. Add dry spices and sugar. Stir well.
  4. As sugar dissolves, add guava pieces. Switch off the gas. Keep the vegetable covered for 2 minutes.
  5. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
    Additional Note
  • This vegetable can be prepared without adding water and sugar. After tempering, add guava pieces and dry spices. Stir well. Cover and cook till tender.

  3. 3/4 teaspoon dhana-jeera powder
  4. pinch of turmeric powder
  5. pinch of asafoetida
  6. 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  7. 2 teaspoons sugar (optional)
  8. 1/2 cup water (optional)
  9. 2 tablespoons oil
  10. salt to taste
  11. coriander leaves (finely cut — to garnish)
